Prolonged posture and altered movement patterns don’t just cause discomfort—they can lead to chronic pain, joint issues, and reduced mobility over time. Understanding how to maintain proper alignment throughout your workday can make a significant difference in your overall health.
Common Desk Posture Issues
- Not letting the arms rest on your desk – Can cause tightness in your upper back.
- Not changing position throughout the day – This can cause stiffness in your neck and lower back.
- Chair/desk height not right– Sitting in a desk for 8 hours that is not set up for your body, is not going to feel great over time.
How Physical Therapy Can Help Desk Postures
- Postural Assessments – PTs analyze movement patterns and identify areas for improvement.
- Strength and Mobility Work – Exercises target weak areas and correct muscle imbalances.
- Ergonomic Guidance – Small changes to workspace setup can prevent strain and discomfort.
Desk Posture
Making small adjustments in posture and movement can have lasting benefits. If you experience discomfort, consider a PT evaluation to optimize your alignment and reduce pain.
